Brown received his BFA in Scenic Design with a concentration in Design/ Technology from the prestigious Conservatory of Theatre Arts & Film at Purchase College State University of New York

Upon completion of his studies, Danny began designing sets for the theatre but quickly adapted his skills to encompass the disciplines of television and film. As a set designer, Danny designed sets for many feature films, including Disney’s “The Odd Life of Timothy Green” where he first worked with distinguished production designer and mentor, Wynn Thomas. Brown also contributed to the Robert Zemeckis film “Flight”which was nominated for “Best Production Design in Contemporary Film" by the Art Directors Guild (ADG | 2012) . Afterwards, he continued to design on independent films while simultaneously designing for studio projects including Legendary Pictures’ “42”, New Line Cinemas’ “Game Night”, where he collaborated with designer Michael Corenblith on the recreation of the cabin of a luxury Gulfstream G650, and a host of other projects from various studios.

Brown was a part of the team that garnered an Art Directors Guild award for the widely acclaimed and Oscar nominated 20th Century FOX film, “Hidden Figures” (2016). He’s also worked alongside Oscar winning designers John Myhre on Disney’s live-action remake of “Lady and the Tramp” and Hannah Beachler on Todd Haynes' “Dark Waters”. Other times he’s teamed up with Croatian designer Kreka Kljakovic on Barry Levinson’s “The Survivor” and Tim Galvin on acclaimed series, Genius: Aretha. A powerful epic highlighting the life of the Queen of Soul. In 2021 Danny reunited with mentor Wynn Thomas on the Korean War drama “Devotion.” Brown has also teamed up with Billy Porter for Porter’s directorial debut Anything’s Possible!

Danny’s most recent work is the epic Lawmen: Bass Reeves. There he again teams with mentor Wynn Thomas to bring to life the world of Bass Reeves, our country’s first black US Deputy Marshall, starring David Oyelowo.

Through varied cultural experiences, combined with years of self study in the arts and the influences of both people he has encountered and places he has traveled, the journey of telling stories by creating the environments we exist within has been an exciting one.

Now, as production designer Brown continues to do so at the beginning of a new era of cinematic storytelling. One that is as alive and cultured as the world around us!
